Paediatric Critical Care Lecturer

Job Summary

The Paediatric Critical Care Lecturer is responsible for coordinating learning activities within the Paediatric PCCN program while delivering high-quality theoretical and clinical instruction. The role focuses on equipping students with the knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies required in paediatric critical care nursing through classroom teaching, clinical supervision, curriculum development, and continuous assessment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Higher Diploma in Paediatric Critical Care Nursing.
• Certificate as a TVET Trainer is an added advantage.
• Certificate in EPALS/PALS is an added advantage.
• Valid Nursing Council of Kenya Practising License.
• Nursing Council of Kenya Registration Certificate.
• Certificate of Good Conduct.

Experience

• Minimum of one (1) year working experience as a Tutor.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate learning activities within the Paediatric PCCN program.
• Deliver theoretical and clinical instruction to students in paediatric critical care nursing.
• Monitor student progress and performance to ensure high instructional standards.
• Develop, review, and update the curriculum in accordance with Nursing Council requirements.
• Prepare and administer theory examinations, practical assessments, and assignments.
• Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.
• Supervise students during clinical placements and practical sessions.
• Maintain clinical competencies through regular clinical practice.
• Take responsibility for continuous professional development.
• Participate in quality improvement programs, clinical audits, and research activities.
• Ensure compliance with institutional policies and professional nursing standards.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of paediatric critical care nursing principles and practices.
• Ability to develop and deliver competency-based training programs.
• Knowledge of curriculum development and instructional planning.
• Competence in student assessment and performance evaluation.
• Basic computer skills for teaching, documentation, and reporting.
