Job Description:

Core Responsibilities

• Meal Preparation: Plan and cook a variety of healthy, balanced meals (breakfast, lunch, and sometimes snacks) according to established school menus.
• Food Safety & Hygiene: Maintain strict standards of kitchen sanitation, ensuring all food is stored, handled, and prepared at correct temperatures to prevent spoilage.
• Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels of food supplies and collaborate with the administration or Head Cook to order new ingredients as needed.
• Kitchen Maintenance: Ensure all cooking utensils, workstations, and equipment are cleaned and sanitized before and after use.
• Waste Control: Follow established portion control guidelines to maintain consistency and minimize food waste.
• Dietary Coordination: Assist in managing meals for students with specific dietary restrictions or allergies. 

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Education: A minimum of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) is required.
• A Diploma or Certificate in Catering, Food Production, or a related field from a recognized institution is highly preferred.
• Health Certification: A valid Health Certificate (as required by Kenyan health regulations for food handlers) is mandatory.
• Experience: At least 1–2 years of experience in a similar position, ideally within a school or busy catering environment.
• Skills: Proficiency in various cooking techniques, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team.

• Should have a certificate in catering, preferably one who can double as a housekeeper
