Overall Purpose
The Economic Recovery Officer will work under the Project Manager to implement economic recovery activities focused on inclusive market systems, cross-border trade (Dollo-Ado, Ethiopia & Gedo, Somalia), and targeting women and youth. The role supports project implementation, coordination, monitoring, and reporting to ensure project objectives are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
Program Implementation & Monitoring
- Conduct participatory needs assessments and design appropriate economic recovery interventions.
- Implement livelihoods and market-based activities for farmers, women, and youth.
- Prepare work plans, reports, and contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and learning.
- Develop training materials, facilitate trainings, and mentor project beneficiaries.
- Ensure accountability, community feedback, and adherence to CHS principles.
Coordination & Partnerships
- Coordinate with consortium partners, government authorities, market actors, and communities.
- Support stakeholder engagement and represent the project in external meetings.
- Support the Project Manager in project planning, reporting, and partner coordination.
Budget Support
- Support budget planning, tracking, forecasting, and utilization monitoring.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in livelihoods or economic recovery projects, preferably with NGOs.
Education
- Must have a degree in Agribusiness Management, Agricultural Economics, Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, or other livelihoods related disciplines;
- Experience in Mandera County and cross-border programming is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of market systems, value chains, VSLA, DRR, and small business development.
- Good organizational, communication, and computer skills; ability to work independently and in teams.
Key Stakeholders
- Program and MEAL teams, government authorities, NGOs/INGOs, donors, and implementing partners.
Contract Details
- One-year contract (renewable based on funding and performance)
- Duty Station: Mandera Base Office
- Start Date: February 2026
