Job Summary
The Inventory Accountant is responsible for managing inventory operations, maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring effective inventory control processes. The role focuses on inventory lifecycle management, cost tracking, reconciliation, compliance, system integration, and providing financial insights to support project execution and organizational decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
1. Inventory Management
- Oversee the complete inventory lifecycle, including stocking, usage, and disposal.
- Monitor and report inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability for ongoing and upcoming projects.
- Conduct regular inventory risk assessments and audits and develop controls to improve efficiency.
- Prepare, issue, and maintain records of delivery notes for inventory-related requests.
- Maintain records and track materials received and dispatched.
- Support inventory reconciliation both physically and through Zoho systems.
- Support implementation of inventory management automation and process improvement initiatives, including material request processes.
2. Financial Reporting
- Develop and maintain detailed financial records related to inventory, ensuring accurate cost tracking, valuation, and accounting of stock items.
- Ensure inventory data is accurate and updated at all times.
- Record and monitor inventory transactions, including purchases, adjustments, and disposals.
- Reconcile inventory accounts regularly to ensure physical stock matches financial records and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare financial reports covering inventory costs, stock movements, and project-related expenses.
- Conduct cost analysis, variance analysis, and profitability assessments related to inventory.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, cost-saving opportunities, and process improvements.
- Provide recommendations and insights based on financial reports to support decision-making.
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure inventory records align with company accounting practices and reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal inventory policies.
3. Project Support
- Work closely with project managers to understand project requirements and align inventory activities with project timelines.
- Ensure timely availability of required equipment and materials for installations and projects.
- Identify and resolve inventory-related issues that may affect project deadlines or quality.
4. System Integration
- Utilize inventory management software and systems to track and manage stock efficiently.
- Support integration of new inventory management technologies and processes.
- Maintain accurate records within inventory management systems and ensure data integrity.
5. Compliance and Audit
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations related to inventory management and financial reporting.
- Support internal and external audits by providing accurate inventory documentation.
- Address and resolve audit findings related to inventory management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience
- 1–2 years of proven experience as an Inventory Accountant or in a similar role, preferably in the IT or technology sector.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles, accounting practices, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems and stock accounting software.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and generate actionable insights.

- Ability to work collaboratively with project teams, suppliers, and vendors.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Inventory Management (CIMA), Accounting (CPA), or Supply Chain Management (CIPS-UK / CPSP-K).
- Experience with project-based inventory management.
- Familiarity with technology and IT equipment related to CCTV, access control, and other security systems.
