Job Summary
The ICT Infrastructure & Network Advisor supports Member Associations (MAs) in strengthening their ICT operational backbone through the delivery of services under the IDS Support Catalogue, specifically within Direct ICT Operations support domain. The role focuses on enabling reliable, secure, and standardised infrastructure, connectivity, and systems that underpin programme delivery and organisational resilience.
Working as part of a globally distributed ICT & Cybersecurity Services team, the Advisor delivers structured support, providing a combination of technical advisory, operational support, and capacity building. The role ensures that MAs benefit from consistent, high-quality ICT services while respecting local context and operational realities.
The mission of the role is to enhance ICT operations maturity across MAs by delivering catalogue-based services in infrastructure, connectivity, cloud, and device management—ensuring business continuity, performance optimisation, and sustainable digital operations.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Deliver ICT Operations services to MAs in line with the IDS Support Catalogue.
- Support infrastructure setup, configuration, and optimisation across networks, servers, and cloud environments
- Provide advisory and hands-on support for connectivity, network performance, and system reliability/
- Support MAs in system administration and operational maintenance of ICT infrastructure
- Troubleshoot ICT infrastructure and network issues, including remote and on-site support
- Provide capacity building, coaching, and mentoring to MA ICT teams on infrastructure and operations
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and peer learning across MAs on ICT operations best practices
- Collaborate with cybersecurity team to ensure secure and integrated ICT environments
- Contribute to continuous improvement of ICT Operations services by documenting lessons learned and field insights
- Collect and disseminate best practices and lessons learned from MA ICT4D and AI projects.
- Engage in external ICT4D and AI innovation networks, bringing lessons and partnerships back to the federation.

As someone working for or on behalf of SOS Children’s Villages, you are responsible for helping to create and maintain a safe and protective environment for staff, as well as for the children, young people, and adult programme participants supported and cared for by SOS Children’s Villages. You are expected to:

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or related field
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco, Microsoft Azure/O365, AWS) are an asset
- 8–10 years in ICT advisory roles, with international exposure.
- Experience supporting operational ICT environments
- Experience to ICT operational standards, system administration, and service delivery models
- Experience in training and capacity strengthening of ICT staff.
- Familiarity with digital safeguarding and child/youth protection in ICT4D.
Technical Skills (with level of proficiency and indication of whether essential or desired)
- Advanced skills in network administration and infrastructure management
- Strong experience with cloud platforms (Azure, O365, AWS) and hybrid environments
- Solid understanding of device management and endpoint configurations
- Knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery practices
- Strong troubleshooting and operational support capabilities
