Job Summary
The Senior IT Operations Engineer is responsible for leading the organization's IT operations by designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and high-performing IT infrastructure. The role provides advanced technical support, manages SaaS platforms and endpoint environments, drives infrastructure improvements, supports AI tool governance, and ensures operational excellence across the organization. The position also serves as a technical leader by mentoring junior engineers, leading strategic IT initiatives, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technology solutions with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
IT Infrastructure and Operations Management
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable IT infrastructure.
- Develop and implement advanced IT solutions to improve system performance and end-user support.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and security of enterprise IT systems.
- Continuously optimize IT operations through automation, process improvement, and technology modernization.
SaaS Platform and Endpoint Administration
- Administer and manage enterprise SaaS platforms including Google Workspace, Notion, Slack, Okta, and other business applications.
- Manage macOS endpoint environments, ensuring proper configuration, security, compliance, and lifecycle management.
- Implement identity and access management controls across enterprise systems.
- Monitor SaaS platform usage, licensing, and performance to maximize operational efficiency.
AI Tools Governance and Management
- Support the deployment, governance, and administration of enterprise AI tools such as Claude for Work, ChatGPT, Notion AI, and similar platforms.
- Manage AI tool licensing, user access, permissions, and seat allocation.
- Monitor AI tool usage, identify inactive licenses, and recommend cost optimization opportunities.
- Promote secure, compliant, and responsible adoption of AI technologies across the organization.
Technical Leadership and Team Development
- Lead by example by promoting best practices in IT operations, system administration, and infrastructure management.
- Mentor junior IT engineers through coaching, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.
- Support professional development and foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
- Provide technical leadership during complex projects and operational challenges.
Project Management and Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Lead IT infrastructure projects from planning through implementation and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure IT services support organizational goals.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and operational practices that align with long-term business strategy.
- Serve as a key contributor to strategic technology planning and decision-making.
Security, Compliance, and Audit Support
- Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and industry best practices.
- Support security audits, SaaS access reviews, and compliance assessments.
- Implement and maintain identity management, access control, and endpoint security measures.
- Identify and mitigate operational and cybersecurity risks.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Experience
- Proven experience in a senior IT Operations, Systems Administration, or Infrastructure Engineering role.
- Demonstrated success in improving enterprise IT infrastructure and end-user support services.
- Experience working in distributed or remote-first organizations is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
- Expert knowledge of macOS administration and endpoint management.
- Extensive experience managing enterprise SaaS platforms including Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, Okta, and similar technologies.
- Hands-on experience administering enterprise AI platforms such as Claude, ChatGPT, Notion AI, or equivalent solutions.
- Strong understanding of identity and access management, security compliance, and endpoint security.
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure architecture, cloud technologies, networking, and systems administration.
- Experience with SaaS governance, license management, and access auditing.
