Job Summary

The Teacher – English and Literature is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction while actively encouraging and facilitating the development of each student's moral character, academic achievement, unique skills, capacities, and talents. The role ensures continuous improvement in teaching and learning through effective curriculum delivery, student assessment, classroom management, and collaboration with school leadership, parents, and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

• Teach English and Literature in accordance with the approved curriculum and school standards.
• Plan, prepare, deliver, and evaluate lessons that address the varying academic and social needs of students.
• Differentiate learning activities to accommodate diverse learning abilities and needs.
• Set clear learning objectives and performance targets based on students' prior achievement.
• Provide a stimulating, inclusive, and learner-centered classroom environment.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress, assessments, and classroom activities.
• Integrate formative and summative assessments into weekly and termly lesson planning.
• Prepare and submit student progress reports to parents and school management.

Classroom and Student Management

• Maintain good order and discipline in accordance with the school's behavior policy.
• Monitor student attendance and promptly report absences to the Principal or Deputy Principal.
• Promote positive behavior, respect, and responsible citizenship among students.
• Lead, organize, and supervise classroom support staff where applicable.

School Administration and Collaboration

• Support the school's vision, values, and ethos as directed by the Directors and Principal.
• Implement school policies, procedures, and curriculum guidelines.
• Participate in staff meetings, curriculum planning sessions, seminars, and professional development activities.
• Contribute to teamwork and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, parents, and school leadership.
• Participate in the school's performance management and continuous improvement initiatives.

Co-curricular and General Duties

• Carry out assigned supervisory duties.
• Support and participate in co-curricular and out-of-school activities.
• Promote a professional image through appropriate conduct and appearance.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Principal, Deputy Principal, or senior management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree in English and Literature from a recognized university or institution.
• Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in a recognized school.
