Theatre Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Theatre Technician to support live performances, rehearsals, and events by setting up, operating, and maintaining technical theatre equipment. The role ensures smooth technical execution of productions.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain lighting, sound, and stage equipment
• Support rehearsals and live performances with technical operations
• Assist in scene changes, rigging, and stage management tasks
• Troubleshoot technical issues during performances
• Follow safety procedures for equipment and stage operations
• Work closely with directors, performers, and production teams

Preferred Skills

• Experience with lighting boards, sound mixers, or rigging systems
• Knowledge of health and safety standards in theatre environments
• Training or certification in technical theatre or stage production

Requirements:

• Diploma or Certificate in Theatre Technology.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in a busy Theatre set-up.
• Demonstrate competence in handling surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Proficiency in MS Office applications
• Training in BEMONC, BLS AND ACLS is an added advantage
• Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya
